Professional statement

Vera Rodriguez is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist based in California, who works with individuals navigating high levels of stress, pressure, and responsibility. Many of her clients are high-functioning in their professional lives but find themselves struggling with perfectionism, burnout, or feeling disconnected in their relationships. She has specialized experience working with first responders and others in high-demand roles, and understands the unique challenges that come with being the person others rely on.

Vera is particularly attuned to how chronic stress and cumulative pressure can begin to impact emotional well-being, communication, and connection over time. She works with clients during periods of transition or strain—whether that’s increased demands at work, relationship challenges, or the feeling that what used to work is no longer sustainable.

Her approach integrates evidence-based modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), alongside advanced training in trauma-focused therapies including EMDR and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), with a practical, real-world focus on helping clients create meaningful change. She supports clients in understanding how their thoughts, behaviors, and physiological stress responses interact, while building skills to manage pressure more effectively, reduce reactivity, and improve communication in their personal lives.

Known for a direct, grounded, and non-judgmental style, Vera creates a space where clients can show up honestly without feeling the need to perform. She views her clients as the experts in their own lives and works collaboratively to identify patterns, clarify goals, and develop strategies that feel both realistic and sustainable.

Her priority in working with new clients is establishing trust—creating an environment where clients feel understood, respected, and supported. She offers in person and telehealth sessions to provide flexibility, accessibility, and consistency, making therapy a practical and sustainable part of clients’ lives.

Message to clients

Hi, I am happy you're here! If you’re thinking about starting therapy, you might be someone who’s used to handling a lot on your own. A lot of the people I work with are capable, dependable, and used to being the one others rely on—but that doesn’t mean things feel easy behind the scenes. You don’t need to come in with the “right words” or a clear plan. Part of our work is figuring that out together.

My therapy style is warm, straightforward, and conversational. I’ll ask questions, share observations, and help you notice patterns you might be too close to see on your own. At the same time, I’m mindful of pacing. The goal isn’t to overwhelm you—it’s to help you build clarity and momentum in a way that feels grounded and doable.

My hope is that over time, therapy feels like a place where you can be more honest with yourself—where you don’t have to censor your humor, your feelings, or your experiences. A place where things start to feel a little clearer, your reactions feel less automatic, and you begin to feel more connected to yourself and to the parts of your life that matter most to you. I look forward to the opportunity to work with you!
