William Benson is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas. He has worked in the addictions field as a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor(LCDC) since 2009 and worked his way to becoming an LPC. He has a wealth of experience helping clients who have co-occurring disorders such as anxiety and substance abuse, depression and substance abuse, stress and substance abuse, and many other combinations. He has an in-depth understanding of trauma and helps clients process through their trauma.
William's approach to therapy is based on a combination of Cognitive Behavior Therapy(CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy(DBT) to assist the client in gaining a better understanding of themselves and develop skills and strategies the client can use lifelong to manage future symptoms. He will also use Mindfulness Skills and Motivational Interviewing to encourage cooperation with the client.
William will say that he sees himself as an "educator therapist" as he will educate you about what you are capable of and then promote daily practice to develop these skills to be used independently.
