Yin (they/them) works primarily with Asian and Asian American adults. This focus allows them to have expertise in the challenges that Asian clients bring forth whether it be intergenerational conflicts and trauma, overwhelm, overwork, perfectionism, a sense of alienation, melancholia...
As a psychodynamic/psychoanalytic clinician, Yin believes early and primary experiences not just with parents but with the world at large create entrenched patterns of relating to ourselves and to the outside world (other people, work, hobbies, finances, institutions, etc). These patterns are usually outside conscious awareness, like breathing, it just happens. Some of these patterns might have been extremely useful, even lifesaving at one point, but might no longer be helpful - if not the cause of why one might be seek therapy.
Over time, by speaking freely in sessions, these patterns and the forces that keep them in place come to the surface, allowing them to be examined, thought about, worked with for new possibilities of being, working, relating, and loving to take shape.
Psychodynamic/psychoanalytic therapy has proven to be evidence-based treatment for lasting change.
