REALIGN: Therapy Readiness Circle

Description

REALIGN: Therapy Readiness Circle is a 6-week psychoeducational therapy group for adults (21+) who are preparing to begin individual therapy or are currently waiting for a therapist. This group is designed to help participants feel grounded, informed, and emotionally prepared before starting therapy. It offers a supportive space to reduce uncertainty, normalize fears, and build the foundational skills that support meaningful therapeutic work.

Group sessions include psychoeducation about the therapy process, emotional regulation and grounding skills, self-reflection, and guided discussion. Participants will explore emotional patterns, clarify personal goals for therapy, and develop increased emotional capacity so they can enter individual therapy with greater confidence and readiness. This is a closed group with a small number of participants to support safety, connection, and continuity.

This group is facilitated by Shawn Ennuson, LCSW, and is informed by the REALIGN Therapeutic Framework, which focuses on restructuring patterns, equipping individuals with practical tools, assessing needs, releasing barriers, igniting insight, generating emotional capacity, and supporting growth in the present moment. A brief intake and free consultation are required to ensure the group is a good fit. This group is not a replacement for individual therapy but is designed to prepare participants for the therapeutic process.

Group Therapist

Shawn Ennuson is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker located in Rochester, NY. Shawn is passionate about helping individuals who suffer to manage their anxiety, anger, or feelings of disconnection from others. Many of Shawn’s clients turn to substances to self-medicate their depression, which creates damage in their relationships, physical health, and emotional wellbeing. Shawn supports these clients to reconnect with their inner selves and process through the difficult feelings that arise. She is particularly passionate about working with the Black or African American, Indigenous, and other minority groups.

Shawn’s approach to therapy incorporates elements of many evidence-based therapies including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and others. She teaches clients about mental health and encourages them to reflect on their feelings, backgrounds, needs, and desires. Her style is approachable, down-to-earth, and humorous, as she loves to make therapy sessions a comfortable, compassionate space.

Shawn earned her Master’s degree in Social Work from Roberts Wesleyan College. She takes a strengths-based, person-centered approach to therapy and values holistic balance across all areas of one’s life, including physical and spiritual health.
