Kassi Hooper is a Board-Certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) who earned her BSN (2010) and MSN (2019) from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. With over 13 years of experience in the psychiatric-mental health field, she has provided quality care across a broad range of challenging inpatient and outpatient settings, including mental health units within a maximum-security prison (Central Prison in Raleigh), private practice, state psychiatric hospitals, and community mental health clinics. She is experienced, passionate about the practice of psychiatric care, and deeply committed to all her patients.
While working at Central Prison, she was inspired to learn more about trauma, including complex and developmental trauma, and actively sought educational opportunities through the Trauma Research Foundation. She has attended the Annual Boston International Trauma Conference every year since 2021.
Through this ongoing education, she has learned that understanding a patient’s history of trauma is essential to providing holistic psychiatric-mental health care that best meets each individual’s treatment needs and helps them live their fullest lives.
