Elliot Feld, MD (he/him) is a board-certified psychiatrist and therapist in North Providence, Rhode Island. Dr. Feld completed his psychiatry residency at Brown University after earning his medical degree from Albany Medical College. He completed the one-year fellowship in psychotherapy at the Boston Psychoanalytic Society & Institute. As a medical doctor with expertise in therapy, he provides personalized and comprehensive care that integrates the biological, psychological, and social aspects of mental health.
Dr. Feld works with adults (age 18 and older) seeking meaningful change through a deeper understanding of themselves and their experiences. His approach is grounded in psychotherapy, and while he wholeheartedly supports the use of medications when necessary, he also helps people come off medications, safely, when appropriate. Medications are useful tools that can also have limitations. Emotional growth, insight, and lasting change come from addressing underlying patterns, rather than simply treating surface-level symptoms.
Many of Dr. Feld’s patients come to him for help with depression, anxiety, panic attacks, intrusive thoughts, guilt or shame, grief and loss, self-esteem, relationship challenges, and difficulty navigating major life transitions. His style is thoughtful, collaborative, and nonjudgmental, with an emphasis on creating a supportive space where patients can explore their inner world and feel understood.
Dr. Feld welcomes people from all backgrounds and identities, and values authenticity, curiosity, and mutual respect in the therapeutic relationship. He strives to practice with cultural humility and self-awareness, recognizing that as a white male therapist, he does not hold all lived experiences. Systemic inequalities (related to race, gender, socioeconomic status, and many other factors) can impact mental health in profound ways that deserve utmost care, attention, humility, and respect.
