Hi! I'm a Licensed Social Worker with skills working with couples, families, adults and teens who struggle with being - transitions, beginnings and endings.
My belief is that emotions are meant to be moderate and support/empower one's actions, not overwhelm and disable. To do that, emotions need to visit our bodies and then move through us and 'leave'. My method is pretty simple, but not easy. I help my clients 1) name felt emotions and ones underlying their discomfort through processing memory (CBT/Somatic); 2) emote the emotion (Somatic); 3) validate the emotion (DBT - 'this makes sense' - this is practical even when overreacting); and then 4) practice self-empathy (CFT/CBT/IFS). This moves the emotion and allows your natural health to connect to and love self and others.
From my training and inner wisdom from diverse life experience I developed this method and I provide humor and warmth in a safe place wherein clients can experience the process. The approach often immediately supports clients' empowerment and optimism- opening their eyes to their own process and resolving negative patterns like from the inner-critic.
I draw from things like CBT, IFS, DBT, Motivational Interviewing, Humanistic therapy, Somatic intervention, and existential and spiritual disciplines. I especially meet you where you're at.
My skills are catered to men and women because of my use of authenticity, self-expression directed by professionalism; my self-acceptance and strong presence communicate to my clients that it's fine, and good and possible, to pursue self-acceptance and personal power. I'm dedicated to my clients' long-term independence and change.
I received my MSW from Touro College, NY, (2012) where I earned academic honors.
(Consideration for sliding scale is via telehealth in NY, NJ, MI, and PA. PA also option for in-person.)
