Adam Twente is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Queens, NY, providing therapy to adults and young adults across New York City. He works primarily with college-aged individuals through adults in their 40s who are navigating anxiety, depression, past trauma, relationship challenges, burnout, and major life transitions. Adam offers in-person therapy in the Flatiron District of Manhattan as well as telehealth therapy for clients throughout New York, allowing flexibility based on individual needs and preferences.
He works with a diverse range of clients, including college students, young professionals, men, LGBTQ+ community members, and individuals who are new to therapy or returning after previous experiences that didn’t quite stick. He supports clients seeking both short-term therapy (3–6 months) focused on specific goals, as well as those interested in open-ended therapy for deeper, longer-term work.
As an integrative therapist in NYC, Adam combines several evidence-based and insight-oriented approaches to help clients better understand themselves, regulate emotions, and create meaningful change. His work is grounded in psychodynamic therapy, helping clients explore how past experiences shape present patterns; cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to identify and shift unhelpful thought and behavior cycles; dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) techniques to build emotional regulation and distress tolerance skills; and a strength-based approach that emphasizes resilience, existing strengths, and confidence-building.
Adam earned his master's degree in Mental Health Counseling & Wellness from NYU, summa cum laude, and his bachelor's degree in psychology from Boston University, summa cum laude. Coming from a family of therapists, he brings both professional rigor and deep personal passion to his work. Adam is committed to providing inclusive, LGBTQ-affirming, trauma-informed therapy and creating a grounded, collaborative space where clients feel supported in understanding themselves and moving forward.
