Blends self-awareness, self-compassion, and acceptance with a calm, grounding presence.

Trained in ERP, ACT, HRT, CBT, REBT, SFBT, and MBCT.

Alexa Mullings is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in New York State and Florida, providing individual psychotherapy to adults 18 and older. She creates a collaborative, goal-oriented therapeutic relationship in a calm, accepting atmosphere, so clients feel free to be themselves. With a broad-minded and supportive approach, Her style is equal parts grounded and goal-oriented: she’ll listen deeply, challenge you when needed, and always keep your progress at the center of the work.

Alexa is committed to finding what truly makes a difference for you — whether that means building practical tools to ease anxiety, breaking free from obsessive thought cycles, or dismantling the patterns that keep you stuck. She draws on a wide range of evidence-based methods, including Exposure Response Prevention (ERP), Habit Reversal Training (HRT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Rational-Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT). These proven approaches are among the most effective for the concerns she most often treats, including ADHD, OCD, generalized anxiety, social phobia, and Body-Focused Repetitive Behaviors such as trichotillomania and excoriation.

She earned her Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling from Mercy College and a Bachelor of Arts in Forensic Psychology from CUNY John Jay College of Criminal Justice. Alexa Shas also completed advanced, specialized training through the Cognitive Behavior Institute (CBI) and PESI/Evergreen Certifications, further deepening her expertise in evidence-based treatment approaches.

Message to clients

Hi, I’m Alexa. I work with adults navigating OCD, anxiety, ADHD, and body-focused repetitive behaviors, and I strive to create a calm, structured, and supportive space where you can feel understood and empowered. I know how exhausting it can feel to be stuck in cycles of worry, intrusive thoughts, or urges that don’t seem to make sense. My goal is to help you build practical tools that lead to meaningful, lasting change—while feeling supported every step of the way.

My work is grounded in evidence-based approaches, including ERP, ACT, CBT, HRT, REBT, SFBT, and mindfulness-based cognitive therapy. Together, we focus on reducing distress, increasing flexibility, and gently breaking patterns that keep you feeling stuck. I take a goal-oriented yet collaborative approach, meaning we work toward clear progress while moving at a pace that feels manageable and respectful of your experience.

Licensed in New York and Florida, I aim to create a therapeutic relationship where you feel supported, appropriately challenged, and confident in your ability to move forward. Therapy with me is both compassionate and structured—I’ll meet you where you are, while helping you build skills that support real growth and resilience in your daily life
