Professional statement

Alicia Roeder is a Licensed Mental Health Therapist and Certified Eating Disorder Specialist who supports adults and teens navigating trauma, anxiety, eating disorders, and body image distress. She is especially passionate about working with individuals in larger bodies, neurodivergent clients, and those who have experienced complex or relational trauma. Alicia creates a warm, nonjudgmental space that honors clients’ lived experiences and identities, including LGBTQ+ and BIPOC communities.

Alicia’s approach to therapy is relational, collaborative, and rooted in self-compassion. She draws from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), EMDR, somatic practices, and intuitive eating principles to help clients feel safe in their bodies and empowered in their choices. Sessions with Alicia often focus on identifying values, building emotional regulation tools, healing from shame, and unlearning internalized beliefs that no longer serve her clients. She recognizes the impact of systemic harm and brings a Health at Every Size® (HAES)-informed lens to her work.

Alicia holds licenses in multiple states, including South Carolina, Iowa, Nebraska, Texas, Georgia, and Illinois. With years of experience working in higher levels of care for eating disorders—including PHP and IOP—she brings both deep clinical insight and a grounded, compassionate presence to her private practice. In addition to therapy, Alicia offers group support, including her Rooted Recovery binge eating group for adults seeking community and skills-based healing.

Alicia offers telehealth-only sessions through a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform and is currently accepting new clients. She welcomes individuals seeking a supportive, affirming space to move toward healing at their own pace.

Message to clients

Hi, I’m Alicia. I know how hard it can be to reach out for support, especially if you’ve had past experiences where you felt unseen, dismissed, or pathologized. I want you to know that therapy with me will be a space where your story is respected, your body is not up for debate, and your healing gets to happen on your terms.

I believe you are the expert on your experience. My role is to walk beside you, offering tools, reflection, and gentle encouragement as we make sense of what’s felt painful or stuck. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, grief, trauma, or body image struggles, I’m here to hold space and help you reconnect with your own voice, agency, and values.

You don’t need to have it all figured out before starting. Wherever you are right now is welcome.
