Professional statement

Dr. Amanda McLean is a Licensed Psychologist with over 16 years of experience supporting clients in navigating life’s challenges and developing healthy coping strategies. She works with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, work or school stress, and life transitions, and is passionate about serving adults across the lifespan.

Her therapeutic approach integrates Internal Family Systems (IFS) with cognitive, behavioral, acceptance-based, and values-driven strategies. Dr. McLean helps clients cultivate self-awareness, build meaningful relationships, and manage symptoms in ways that promote effective and fulfilling living.

Understanding that each person is shaped by their unique life experiences—especially within family relationships—Dr. McLean provides a collaborative, client-centered space for exploring struggles, strengths, and choices. Sessions focus on insight, reshaping thought patterns, and fostering lasting behavioral change. She creates a safe, respectful, and encouraging environment where clients motivated for growth can explore solutions and healing.

Dr. McLean provides services exclusively via telehealth, offering convenient and accessible care. She recognizes that beginning therapy can feel overwhelming and strives to make each client feel accepted, comfortable, and supported as they embark on their journey toward change.

Message to clients

Therapy offers an opportunity for self-exploration and deeper insight into your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. By increasing self-awareness, you can begin to engage in more intentional choices and value-driven action. At different stages of life, it’s common to feel stuck or weighed down by past experiences. In a safe, compassionate, and nonjudgmental environment, therapy provides space to heal, set meaningful goals, and develop new skills for navigating challenges. We can all benefit from therapy as a path to greater self-understanding, healthier patterns of thinking and behaving, and ultimately reaching our full potential.

At your first appointment, we will begin by gathering some background information, including relevant medical and social history, to better understand your unique experiences. We will also discuss the concerns that led you to seek therapy and identify the goals you would like to work toward. I will provide an overview of my therapeutic approach and the strategies we may use, so you know what to expect from the process. This session is also an opportunity for you to ask questions and ensure that therapy feels like the right fit for you.
