Professional statement

Amy is a warm, attentive, and solution-focused pre-licensed clinician. She has a strengths-based, anti-oppression social justice perspective and will use a variety of modalities to assist clients. Amy will work with you to build skills that strengthen your wellbeing, enhance communication, and increase your understanding of how your environment has impacted you as an individual, family member, and community member.

For many years, Amy worked with people healing from past traumatic experiences, identity-based conflict, generational trauma, and the loss of loved ones to violence. She works with adults with many different racial, gender, religious, sexual orientation identities and is passionate about working with white women who are invested in increasing their racial identity awareness and processing the ways that white supremacy shows up in their lives and work.

Amy received her Bachelor’s degree from Columbia College with a self-designed major called, “Unequally Empowered People of the United States of America” which focused on power and privilege. She got her Master’s Degree in Social Work from Columbia University. Amy worked in the nonprofit sector for over 20 years, focusing on violence prevention, community building, and youth development prior to creating a private practice.

Amy is currently accepting new clients and offering virtual sessions, with daytime and evening availability. Please reach out via the Book Appointment button.

Message to clients

If you are feeling stuck, isolated, confused, lonely, overwhelmed, anxious, or exhausted, therapy can help. No matter what moved you to reach out today–life transitions, anxieties, traumatic experiences, the weight of systemic injustice, work stress–we can work together to help you identify and pursue the changes that help you attain your full potential.

During sessions, we will reflect on your experiences, thoughts, and beliefs, and determine how they can serve you better. We can get clear on what matters to you, explore patterns of behavior and beliefs that are interfering with your potential, and name ways in which histories and invisible systems of power have an impact on you. While I bring an anti-oppression lens to my approach, I believe in using whatever tools work best for you. I will be nonjudgemental, curious, compassionate and supportive; I really want you to live the life you want.

I bring to therapy twenty years of experience in the nonprofit and social justice worlds. It has been a real joy for me to collaborate with clients as they feel more alive, more fulfilled and their relationships improve with themselves and other people in their lives.

Amy Ellenbogen has a Master of Social Work. Amy Ellenbogen is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, LCSW #100718 at Cerebral.
