Professional statement

Whether you're a veteran, first responder, or someone living with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), you’ve seen things most people can’t imagine — in war zones, on the job, or after disaster. Maybe now you feel numb, stuck in your head, or just worn out. It’s hard to relax, connect with others, or imagine feeling like yourself again. You’re not broken — you’re human. With the right support, you can feel better and reconnect with what matters, whether it’s old passions or new purpose. Starting therapy may be the hardest — and best — decision you make for your health and relationships.

Since 2016, I’ve worked with clients impacted by PTSD and complex PTSD (C-PTSD), including supervised training focused on veterans' issues and their families. I specialize in supporting first responders/healthcare workers, military families, public servants, journalists, and humanitarian aid workers — people whose lives and work often intersect with crisis, violence, and loss. Together, we’ll reduce the grip of painful memories, build resilience, and explore meaningful ways to move forward.

If you're navigating trauma — personally or professionally — I’m here to help. I also support parenting through trauma: coaching parents with their own trauma histories, or those raising children with trauma, on how to stay grounded and responsive in challenging moments. This includes a focus on child mental health and creating emotionally safe homes.

You can request an appointment here or visit my website for a free consultation. Please note: insurance is not accepted, except for GEHA, Medicaid, and Hopkins EHP. Sessions are $180 for the initial intake and $175 for follow-ups. I offer online therapy Monday–Friday, 9am–6pm, and Saturdays, 9am–12pm.

Message to clients

I have a lot of respect for people who come to therapy, even when they feel nervous about that first session. Talking to a stranger and being open to learning new ways to think and act can be hard, but it can be rewarding because of the sense of possibility you gain in the process.

As a cultural anthropologist who has lived in different places, I understand what it is like to be in vulnerable situations that demand an open mind and flexibility. I do my utmost to help you to relax so that our sessions feel like a safe place to learn. This sometimes means talking about topics unrelated to what brought you in to therapy such as a sport you play or your favorite TV show. My priority is helping you to become comfortable expressing yourself to me.

In turn, each person opens up a world of thoughts, habits, and values for me to get to know. That means that I see us on a journey together - You are free to tell me when I’ve asked the wrong question or the treatment approach doesn't seem quite right. I expect to make myself just as flexible as I ask you to become, in order to help you grow. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me with any questions about my approach. I look forward to hearing from you!
