Professional statement

Andrea Robinson is a Licensed Professional Counselor located in Portland, OR who is passionate about helping clients who have challenging relationships with trauma, abuse, shame, and relationship ruptures. Many of these clients describe themselves as highly sensitive or neurodivergent, and they experience emotions like sadness, irritability, stress, or anxiety throughout the day, though often they’re able to mask these feelings and instead engage in overfunctioning behaviors. These individuals tend to be curious and introspective, arriving at therapy to better understand themselves and develop effective coping strategies.

Andrea taps into her own personal experience with mental health challenges while working with her clients, bringing deep empathy and understanding to her sessions. She practices Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy and somatic therapy to help clients process through their trauma or distress. She also practices Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), giving clients various coping strategies to practice in moments of overwhelm. Her goal is to get clients out of their fight-or-flight reactions and out of survival mode.

Sessions with Andrea are tailored to the needs and wants of the client, whether that’s placing structure within the conversation or allowing clients to focus on what they’re feeling in that moment without fear of judgment and without the expectation of performance or masking. Andrea is neurodivergent affirming in her practice and deeply attuned to her clients’ emotions, providing compassionate care for everyone who enters her sessions.

Message to clients

If you've landed here, you might be carrying more than you let on, and you might be exhausted from holding it all together. Therapy with me isn't about fixing what is "wrong" with you. it's about creating space for what's real, what's buried, and what's ready to come forward.

You don't have to show up perfect, prepared, or even sure of what you need. We'll figure that out together. My hope is to offer you space that's grounded, honest, and emotionally safe - especially if you've felt like the world hasn't made much room for you sensitivity, intensity, or complexity.

You're not too much. You're not behind. And you don't have to do it all alone.
