Professional statement

Barbara Bogley is a Licensed Certified Social Worker–Clinical (LCSW-C) based in Frederick County, Maryland, with more than 25 years of experience in the mental health field. Barbara has worked in a variety of settings throughout her career, including outpatient and hospital-based programs, serving individuals from young children to older adults. For the past 13 years, she has been in private practice and has been providing primarily virtual services since 2023. She is also a Certified Clinical Anxiety Treatment Professional.

Barbara currently specializes in providing telehealth therapy to adult women ages 18–65. Her clients often seek support for concerns such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, low self-esteem, burnout related to work, family and relationship challenges, and the emotional impact of chronic health conditions. She also works with women navigating single motherhood, and experiencing fertility struggles, complicated pregnancies, premature delivery, infant loss, and postpartum issues.

Her therapeutic approach is collaborative, structured, and growth-oriented. Barbara integrates evidence-based modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Solution-Focused Therapy in her work with individuals. She focuses on helping clients recognize unhealthy thought patterns, beliefs, and coping strategies and replace them with more effective ways of thinking and responding. She works with clients to identify practical goals and develop the skills needed to move toward meaningful change in their lives.

As a therapist, Barbara strives to create a supportive and compassionate environment where clients feel heard, respected, and empowered. Her goal is to make the therapy process as accessible and supportive as possible, from scheduling and communication to consistent, reliable session times. Barbara is open to working with individuals from all backgrounds and faith traditions. As a Christian, she is passionate about supporting clients who want to incorporate their faith in Christ, prayer and Scripture into therapy.

Message to clients

Starting therapy can feel like a big step, and it’s normal to feel unsure about what to expect. In our sessions together, my goal is to create a comfortable space where you can talk openly about what’s been going on in your life. We will work together to identify the challenges you’re facing and clarify what you would like your life to look like moving forward—whether that’s one month, six months, or a year from now. By the end of our first meeting, you’ll leave with a clearer understanding of your situation and some practical steps you can begin taking right away.

My approach to therapy is collaborative. I believe that meaningful change happens when we work together to identify patterns that may be holding you back and develop healthier ways of thinking, coping, and responding to life’s challenges. My hope for every client I work with is that therapy becomes a place where you feel supported, understood, and encouraged as you grow. I genuinely care about the people I work with and want to see them thrive. Ultimately, my goal is to help you develop the insight, skills, and resilience you need so that you can move forward feeling stronger, healthier, and more confident in your life. You are never alone in facing life’s challenges, and it is always okay to reach out for support when you need it.
