Professional statement

Caila Shaw is a licensed therapist based in Massachusetts. She has over 10 years of experience as a therapist working with adults across the lifespan. She is passionate about helping individuals learn to navigate relationships, including those with romantic partners, friends, family, community and oneself. She aims to help her clients increase their understanding of self, helping them to tune into their own thoughts, emotions, and preferences, to live more authentically. Caila's client's learn to manage stressors, both the everyday and larger scale stressors we all face.

Caila makes a point of acknowledging the concerns many of us have about the modern world from inequality, human rights violations, political instability to social media, and AI. So many aspects of the world we live in can deeply impact our mental health and I think it is important for therapy to be a safe haven in which we can explore how to navigate these stressors.

Caila prioritizes making the therapy process as comfortable and accessible as possible. She acknowledges that everyone comes to therapy with a different experience and sometimes just beginning therapy can feel like a huge hurdle. Caila offers teletherapy sessions that allow you to access therapy from a place that feels comfortable for you.

Message to clients

Thank you for taking a look at my profile. I know that just considering therapy can feel challenging and overwhelming, so I congratulate you on taking that first step!

I think we all have the ability to create change for ourselves, but it is much easier to do so when we have the support we need. Therefore it is my aim to provide a safe atmosphere in sessions so that you can feel comfortable exploring, making changes, finding growth, and healing.

My therapy style is rooted in a few different approaches including Mindfulness based Cognitive Behavioral therapy, Acceptance and Commitment therapy, and Person Centered therapy. What this means is that I focus on helping you learn to exist fully in the present moment, reducing the distress we feel when living in regret or always thinking 20 steps ahead to the worst case scenario. I assist you in learning how to live more authentically and in alignment with your values. I create a space that is just for you, where your can learn to access and amplify your own voice, thoughts, feelings, and hopes.

If this sounds like what you are looking for from therapy then I encourage you to send me a message and I can help you start the process!
