Professional statement

Citlali (seet-la-lee) Herrera, LCSW, works with millennial and zillennial women who feel unseen, unheard, or disconnected from themselves after years of prioritizing others. At the heart of her work is a guiding belief: everyone deserves the opportunity to be seen and to live a fully authentic life. Many of the clients she supports grew up in emotionally immature or unpredictable family systems where love felt conditional. As adults, this often shows up as people-pleasing, perfectionism, anxious attachment, guilt around having needs, or difficulty feeling fulfilled in relationships. Clients seek Citlali when they are ready to break these patterns and begin relating to themselves with more self-trust and compassion.

Citlali’s approach is integrative, relational, and grounded in a mind-body-spirit framework. She draws from psychodynamic therapy, somatic practices, reiki, consciousness, and psychospiritual work to help clients understand how early relational experiences continue to shape their nervous system, sense of self, and relationships. Her work emphasizes slowing down, naming what has gone unspoken, and creating space for clients to reconnect with their needs, boundaries, and emotional truth.

In addition to weekly psychotherapy, Citlali offers hypnotherapy intensives, ecotherapy, and ketamine-assisted psychotherapy when clinically appropriate. These modalities are always optional and introduced thoughtfully, based on each client’s goals and readiness. Citlali is a certified hypnotherapist, reiki master, shamanic practitioner, and psychedelic-assisted psychotherapist, and her work is informed by both clinical training and long-standing engagement with contemplative and ancestral wisdom traditions.

Citlali offers virtual therapy throughout New York and New Jersey, as well as in-person walk-and-talk sessions in Westchester County.

Message to clients

If you have spent much of your life holding everything together, keeping the peace, proving your worth, or making yourself smaller so others could take up space, you are not alone. Many people who come to my work grew up in emotionally immature family systems where love felt conditional. Over time, this can show up as people-pleasing, perfectionism, self-doubt, or a lingering sense of never feeling like enough.

In therapy with me, you do not have to carry these patterns by yourself. My approach is warm, direct, and collaborative. Together, we explore how your early experiences live in your body, shape your relationships, and influence the way you see yourself. I integrate talk therapy with somatic, hypnosis, spiritual, and nature-based practices, as well as shamanic-informed approaches that support grounding, insight, and reconnection with your inner wisdom.

When it feels appropriate, we may explore modalities such as hypnotherapy intensives or ketamine/psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy to access deeper layers of healing. These approaches are always optional and introduced thoughtfully. My hope is that therapy becomes a place where you feel deeply seen without having to perform, where guilt begins to soften, and where your sense of worth is no longer something you have to earn.

Therapist's note

I use a service called Thrizer to make out-of-network therapy simple. With Thrizer, once your deductible is met you only pay your co-insurance (your portion after insurance coverage) at each session, instead of paying my full fee upfront and waiting weeks for reimbursement. Thrizer handles all the claim submissions with your insurance company and pays me directly, so you don’t have to deal with the paperwork.

This means:

-You pay less upfront at each session.

-You don’t have to wait for reimbursement checks.

-Thrizer takes care of claims and billing for you.

If you’d like, I can help you check your out-of-network benefits through Thrizer before we start, so you know exactly what to expect.
