Professional statement

Dan is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker serving adults across the state of Indiana. Dan uses the teletherapy platform to reach people across the state, people who are hurting or in need of someone to talk to, people who need the help but want the convenience of receiving that help in their own homes. Dan can help with a wide variety of problems such as depression, anxiety, stress, anger, relational issues, and behavioral issues such as pornography use.

Dan uses an approach that is conversational, and a little more laid back than some therapists. You’ll go where you want to go in discussions and you’ll address the needs you want to address with Dan, because while there is an identified therapy goal to address, life has a way of adding twists and turns along the way. Dan also believes that much of how we see ourselves and the world and people around us begins with how we think and what we believe. For example, if you believe you are a failure, you will be much less likely to try something new than someone who believes they can do anything. A good portion of all the mental health issues people face is because they have come to believe things about themselves, often while growing up, that are lies. Dan will help you identify those lies and replace them with truth. If you are a believer in Christ (and even if you aren’t) and you want a biblical perspective or a pastoral approach to counseling, Dan is more than happy to provide that for you too. Regardless of your faith, or even lack of it, Dan is looking forward to working with you.

Message to clients

In the 32 years of my career as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I have seen and heard a lot of stories. Some stories are heart breaking, while others are jubilant and inspiring. I have learned valuable lessons across my career and one of the most important lessons I have learned is that people will surprise you if you believe in them. It's amazing what a little encouragement and the suggestion of hope can do for people. So, I won't give up on you!

While I don't claim to have all the answers, I do believe that we can find the answers you need while we work together. Sometime those answers come more quickly than others, but they will come if you are willing to make the effort and do the work that needs done. I grew up being taught the values of respect, sacrifice and service. I will treat you with kindness and compassion, with dignity and respect, but I will not let you get away with selling yourself short, and if needed I will challenge you to do better. If you are a person of faith and want a biblical perspective to your problem, I am more than happy to provide that, you just have to let me know. There is a part of the Bible that says "be transformed by the renewing your mind". Whether you are a person of faith or not, that will be our goal and that will be my hope for you.
