Professional statement

Denisse Suarez is a bilingual Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern (RMHCI) in Florida who supports children, teens, and families navigating emotional, behavioral, and life challenges. She works with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, and behavioral concerns, as well as those adjusting to cultural transitions and family changes.

Her therapeutic approach integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and play-based techniques to help clients build emotional awareness, communication skills, and resilience. Denisse also partners closely with parents and caregivers, providing tools to strengthen relationships and manage stress at home.

Denisse earned her Master of Science in Counselor Education with a focus in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Florida International University (FIU), where she was a BHWET Fellowship recipient. Her clinical experience spans home, school, and community-based settings, with specialized training in supporting children and adolescents with ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, and behavioral difficulties.

Fluent in English and Spanish, Denisse provides culturally responsive therapy for immigrant and first-generation families, helping clients navigate identity, belonging, and adjustment. She offers telehealth sessions across Florida on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 3:00–8:00 PM (EST).

Message to clients

Starting therapy can feel like a big step, especially when you or your child are already feeling overwhelmed. My goal is to create a space where you feel seen, supported, and understood, whether you’re navigating anxiety, behavior challenges, cultural transitions, or the stress of everyday life.

I take a collaborative and compassionate approach, helping clients build emotional awareness and practical coping skills they can use beyond our sessions. For children and teens, that might include play or creative activities; for adults and parents, it often means working together to find strategies that strengthen relationships and communication.

As a bilingual therapist, I’m deeply committed to providing a culturally responsive space for English- and Spanish-speaking families. Together, we’ll explore challenges at your pace, celebrate progress, and create meaningful change that fits your family’s values and goals.
