Professional statement

Dr. Meidlinger is a clinical psychologist who helps folks create a safe space in their mind with less criticism, fear, and overthinking.

He provides therapy to people struggling with PTSD, anxiety, obsessive compulsive thoughts, complex trauma, social phobia, and depression. He has a specialization in assisting those who have experienced difficult or traumatic life events and childhoods. He understands just how exhausting it can be for clients when they cannot get a break from fear, overwhelm, and anxiety.

Dr. Meidlinger uses scientifically supported treatment techniques, such as cognitive behavioral therapy and exposure therapies to help clients see quick and effective relief. He helps clients to look at their current environment, actions, and how they speak to themselves; then he offers tools for change in these areas. Dr. Meidlinger is firmly rooted in evidence-based practice, which means that he has a solid background in research, assessment, and diagnosis. He has training in both designing and evaluating cutting edge therapies, giving him a unique perspective as a therapist.

Dr. Meidlinger completed his PhD through the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and a doctoral internship at the Durham VA Healthcare System in NC. He spent the early part of his career working at the veteran's hospital, which honed his clinical skills. Outside of private practice, he is faculty at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and serve as the director of the clinical psychology training clinic. In this role, he has the honor to serve as an instructor and clinical supervisor of graduate students on their own journeys to becoming clinical psychologists.

Dr. Meidlinger sees clients in-person, and remotely (nationwide). His in-person office is in Lincoln, Nebraska, but he has the ability to see clients nation-wide via telehealth and PSYPACT.

Message to clients

I am here to help reduce the suffering in your life. I would love to aid you in clarifying your personal values and goals, then find a realistic path to meeting them. I hope to give you skills to eliminate areas of pain that do not serve you. I know that a meaningful life is not without suffering, but you deserve to feel hopeful about the future. You deserve relief.

I respect that my clients are front and center in the therapeutic process and I believe in their ability to determine the right therapist for their needs. I believe that you should choose a therapist based on their skills and abilities, but also what feels right in your "gut." I have extensive training for managing things like anxiety, PTSD, depression and OCD. I will approach you with complete respect for your freedom and autonomy as well as warmth and ease.

I know that choosing a therapist is hard and I welcome you to reach out for a free and low pressure consultation. It is important to feel comfortable with whomever you choose and this first touch base can help. I look forward to learning more about you and your story.

If it helps to get to know me a bit better, I am from a small town in Nebraska, am a bit of a history buff, and love to cook. I'm looking forward to getting to know you.
