Professional statement

Elena Scricca, LMHC (she/her) is a therapist offering sessions via telehealth in Florida and in person in Gainesville, Florida. She has experience in treating a variety of disorders, as well as helping people through life transitions, relational issues, stress, and anxiety. She is highly experienced working with eating disorders of all kinds, including Anorexia, Bulimia, Binge Eating Disorder, ARFID, OSFED, and Orthorexia. She also has a wealth of experience working with Borderline Personality Disorder, neurodivergence, and body dysmorphia.

Elena is trained in many strategies, including Dialectical Behavior Therapy. This form of therapy focuses on interpersonal skills, emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and mindfulness skills. This is a form of therapy that was designed largely for Borderline Personality Disorder but offers a wide variety of skills beneficial to anyone willing to learn. She encourages her clients to practice these skills in their daily lives to see how impactful they are, and to make them into regular habits. Elena also uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in her practice. This is a strategy used to identify negative beliefs or thought patterns that keep people stuck in harmful cycles of behavior. She helps clients build more awareness of their needs and helps them develop more effective tools to meet them.

Elena prioritizes creating a calming, judgment-free environment where people feel comfortable to be themselves. She is neurodivergent-affirming, Health At Every Size, and LGBTQIA+ embracing. She works to gently challenge shame and model compassionate care, encouraging others to develop their own self-compassion. She is both warm and kind, while also purposeful and directed. Clients leave sessions feeling heard and understood, and also knowing exactly how their session contributes to their long-term goals. She checks in often to make sure they are getting what they need in therapy and taking steps towards the life they want to live.

Message to clients

Welcome! I'm glad you're here. I know how overwhelming it can be to take your first step towards healing. Sometimes growth is one of the most painful things we can experience. And you're not alone. I would be honored to be part of this journey with you, offering support and guidance along the way. Whether you're healing from new or old wounds, wanting to learn how to have healthier relationships, trying figure out who you are, or looking to escape from harmful cycles of thoughts or behaviors, we can face it together.

I believe that we are all doing the best that we can with the tools that we have. So let's talk about expanding your toolkit together. We can build a deeper understanding of the issues you're struggling with and learn how to address them more effectively. We'll evaluate what has or hasn't worked for you in the past and build on that foundation to meet your current needs and goals. We will learn how to face the parts of yourself that may feel scary or shameful, and meet them with compassion and understanding. I believe that the combination of self-compassion and increased awareness truly opens the gates to change. We can work on finding that gate and opening it together.

No matter what part of this journey you're in, you deserve help and to live a life that brings you happiness. I'd love to be a part of that journey with you.
