Genelle N. Benker is a Psychologist in the Ravenna district of Seattle. She works with teens, young adults, adults, older adults, and couples. Many of Dr. G’s clients come in to address mood dysregulation, trauma, life transitions, and relationship distress.
Dr. G is trained in an integrative approach that combines Internal Family Systems (IFS), Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), Relational Psychoanalysis, Feminist Psychology, Gottman Couples Therapy Interventions, and holistic approaches such as Mindfulness, Yoga, Nutritional Counseling, and Energy Medicine. She creates individualized treatment plans, tailored to the unique needs of each patient, which address their core concerns and help them to achieve optimal life satisfaction. This approach supports patients to resolve the issues that brought them to therapy, engage more fully and presently in their lives, and align their actions with their values.
Dr. G's style is warm, insightful, and non-judgmental. When clients first start therapy, Dr. G works to gather comprehensive background information that includes the physical health factors which influence mental health and establish a healthy therapeutic relationship where the patient's needs and desires can be identified as well as the obstacles they face in reaching their goals.
Dr. G received her PsyD from Antioch University Seattle. She has worked for 7 years in community mental health settings, serving underprivileged populations and 3 years at a group practice serving the Redmond community. Beyond clinical training, she has an extensive background in holistic medicine, yoga, nutrition, and herbology attained through study across multiple continents. Outside of private practice she is an artist and yogi who loves to dance, snowboard, hike, and cook nutritious meals for her family..
