Professional statement

Greta Weiss is a psychotherapist based in New York City offering virtual telehealth sessions to teens and young adults. Greta is passionate about working with individuals who self identify as "highly sensitive people" or people who have spent much of their lives trying to feel less and be less. Whether they've been told they're too emotional their whole lives, or want to know how to understand themselves better, Greta works with her client's to unpack their inner experience, understand the value of their emotionality, and begin the journey of embracing this part of themselves.

Greta uses a combined approach informed by IFS, ACT, and other mindfulness-based modalities to help her clientele connect more deeply and compassionately with yourself. Her approach allows client's to dig deeper into themselves, understand themselves better, and embrace any change that feels supportive and inspiring. In addition to her clinical approach, Greta strives to show up authentically as herself in session: warm, collaborative, and down to earth.

Her training began at Columbia University where she received her Master of Social Work. Greta has continued to grow as a clinician and expand her knowledge, first as a Therapist on staff at The Dorm and now as a Psychotherapist at the New York City Psychotherapy Collective. She is committed to ongoing growth and development as a clinician to ensure absolute clinical excellence for her clientele.

Message to clients

Have you always been called a sensitive person? Have you ever felt ashamed or anxious about your sensitivity and emotional depth? Often, individuals who feely deeply and lead with their hearts have been discouraged from expressing their emotions. Perhaps you've been told to "just get over it" or that it "isn't a big deal". Therapy can be a space to honor your emotions and learn how to cope so the depth of them doesn't swallow you hole. Whether you’re navigating a breakup, difficult family dynamics, or career stress, we will honor and give space to your emotions while building skills to cope with them. Together, we will release the shame and use your emotional depth as a guiding light forward.

As a fellow self-identified highly sensitive person, I understand the struggle of understanding this part of ourselves. I lead with authenticity in our work together, showing up alongside you so that you can feel safe, heard, and validated while you deepen your self understanding, strengthen your coping skills, and build a more peaceful relationship with yourself.
