Professional statement

Gretchen Herter, LMHC holds a Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling and School Adjustment Counseling and is a licensed therapist practicing in Massachusetts.

In her private practice, Gretchen offers individual counseling, parent coaching and consultative services.

Specializing in anxiety, Gretchen takes an integrative approach to therapy, combining Mindfulness-Based Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and a Strengths-Based Relational framework. She helps clients recognize and build on their strengths, using those qualities to develop effective coping strategies and reach their goals. Gretchen is dedicated to creating a warm, welcoming, and supportive space where clients feel comfortable focusing on their growth and well-being.

Gretchen also offers parent coaching and consultation, helping parents understand their own parenting styles, manage anxiety around parenting, addressing developmental and school-related challenges and taking a whole brain approach to the parent child relationship.

As a clinician, Gretchen's goal is to provide a safe and supportive environment where clients can explore their challenges with the confidence that positive change is possible.

Message to clients

I am committed to helping clients identify the tools and practices that resonate with them, as I believe that each person’s journey is shaped by their own unique set of experiences and needs. My approach is centered on collaboration, where we work together to identify the specific strategies and insights that best support your growth and well-being.

I have had the privilege of working with individuals at various stages of their journey—some who are ready to make changes but are unsure where to begin, and others who are clear on the issues they wish to address. Regardless of where you are, we will work together to find a path that aligns with your personal sense of readiness.
