Professional statement

Griffin Oakley is a licensed therapist in Oregon and Florida who specializes in working with adults carrying the weight of what didn't get dealt with — childhood trauma, complex PTSD, attachment wounds, and the identity questions that follow people long into adulthood. His clients are often high-functioning on the outside and exhausted on the inside. They've tried to figure it out on their own, or tried therapy before and felt like it stayed on the surface. They're ready for something different.

Griffin's approach is direct, collaborative, and built around each individual client. He draws on CBT, DBT, ACT, SFBT, attachment theory, polyvagal theory, parts work, somatic awareness, and narrative approaches — not as a checklist, but as a toolkit he pulls from based on what each client brings in. The method follows the person, not a protocol. He also has extensive training in addiction studies and co-occurring disorders, with clinical experience in intensive outpatient settings.

Griffin holds dual licensure as an LMHC and LPC, national board certification as an NCC, and a DBT certification. He holds a Master's in Counseling Psychology from Troy University and has clinical experience across intensive outpatient programs, program coordination, and private practice — giving him the foundation to work with complex and co-occurring presentations.

Griffin offers telehealth sessions exclusively, serving clients throughout Oregon and Florida. Sessions are available Monday through Thursday, afternoons and evenings. Please send me a message to schedule a free 15 minute video consultation.

Message to clients

If you've spent years managing what's underneath instead of actually dealing with it, you're probably tired. Not falling apart — just tired of carrying something that hasn't shifted no matter what you've tried. A lot of the people I work with have already done the reading, have the insight, and still can't seem to move the needle. That's not a character flaw — it's a sign that something deeper needs attention, and that's exactly the kind of work I do.

I work with adults who are ready to stop working around the hard stuff and start going toward it. That doesn't mean reckless — it means deliberate, at a pace that works for you, with someone who knows how to navigate complex terrain. My approach is direct and I don't take shortcuts. I'll ask hard questions and I'll sit with you in the hard answers. If you've been in therapy before and walked away feeling like nothing really moved, I'd like to show you what it looks like when it does.

Before we start, know this: I work best with people who are ready to be honest — with me and with themselves. You don't have to have it all figured out. You just have to be willing to look. I offer a free 15-minute video consultation so we can get a sense of fit before you commit to anything.
