Professional statement

Hughar is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Addiction Counselor who works with clients navigating trauma, complex trauma, dissociation, anxiety, and complex grief. Many of the people he supports feel stuck, disconnected, or weighed down by painful experiences that prevent them from living the life they want. He provides a safe, compassionate space where clients can begin to process these struggles and take steps toward being more open, engaged, and connected.

His therapeutic approach draws from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). He is EMDR Certified and an EMDRIA Approved Consultant, with advanced training in treating trauma and dissociation. He also integrates elements of Internal Family Systems (IFS) when appropriate, helping clients work with different parts of the self in ways that promote compassion, integration, and growth. His style is collaborative and client-centered—meeting each person where they are and tailoring treatment to their unique needs.

With nearly a decade of clinical experience, Hughar has supported many clients in moving through overwhelming emotions, trauma histories, and challenging life transitions. He brings both professional expertise and a warm, grounded presence to his work. Clients often describe him as safe, understanding, humorous, and knowledgeable, qualities that allow for deep and meaningful therapeutic work.

Hughar sees clients at his office in Centennial/Engelwood, Colorado, and also offers remote sessions for those located throughout the state. He strives to make therapy accessible and flexible, and welcomes new clients to reach out for a free consultation to see whether his approach is a good fit for their needs.

Message to clients

Welcome! I’m so glad you’re here. Starting therapy can feel like a big step, and my hope is that you will find both safety and comfort in our work together. I strive to create a space where you feel truly heard and supported, no matter what you are carrying.

You can expect me to bring skill, knowledge, and care to our sessions. Much of my work is focused on trauma, and I want you to know that while exploring trauma can sometimes be difficult, we will approach it gently and always at a pace that feels manageable for you. I believe healing happens best when it is done in safety and partnership, and I will walk alongside you through the process.

Most of all, I want you to know that you don’t have to face your struggles alone. Therapy is a space for growth, understanding, and hope—and together we can move toward the life you want to live.
