Professional statement

Ilana Grines, LMFT, CST, works with adults and couples who are navigating relationship stress, intimacy and desire concerns, life transitions, and the emotional impact of anxiety, shame, and identity shifts. Many of her clients are thoughtful, insight-oriented people who feel stuck—emotionally, relationally, or sexually—despite having “done the work” in other areas of their lives. She frequently supports individuals and couples who want to feel more connected to themselves and their partners, reduce patterns of avoidance or shutdown, and build relationships that feel more authentic, satisfying, and sustainable.

Her therapeutic approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in evidence-based practice. Ilana draws primarily from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Solution-Focused Therapy, while integrating a sex-positive, trauma-informed lens. She helps clients slow down, make sense of emotional and relational patterns, and move away from shame-driven narratives toward greater self-understanding and choice. Sessions tend to be practical and reflective—focused not only on insight, but on helping clients feel less stuck and more empowered in their day-to-day lives and relationships.

Ilana is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and a Certified Sex Therapist. She has advanced training in relational dynamics, sexual health, desire discrepancies, and the intersection of mental health and intimacy. In addition to her clinical work, she is committed to ongoing education and professional collaboration, regularly consulting with other mental health and medical professionals to ensure clients receive thoughtful, coordinated care when appropriate.

Message to clients

I aim to show up as your therapist, teammate, and occasional cheerleader. I bring empathy, humor, and a thoughtful clinical lens into our work together, while you bring yourself—and the deep, lived expertise of your own life. Therapy is a collaborative process, and my hope is that we work as a team to help you move toward your goals with more clarity, self-trust, and connection.

Finding the right therapist matters, and it’s normal for that process to take some time. I encourage you to reach out with any questions you may have about me, my approach, or what therapy might look like for you. To support that process, I offer a free phone or Zoom consultation so we can explore whether working together feels like the right fit before getting started.

If you’re curious, unsure, or just want more information, you’re always welcome to ask. I’m happy to answer questions and help you figure out your next steps.
