Professional statement

Dr. Jacklyn Foley works with adolescents, younger adults, and older adults, with particular expertise in supporting people managing co-occurring medical and psychiatric conditions. She has extensive experience helping clients cope with illness, treatment, recovery, and changes in functioning (e.g., cancer, HIV, gastrointestinal conditions). She also works with clients navigating significant life transitions, such as changes in autonomy, self-image, and relationships, which often arise in the context of acute and chronic illness management, as well as during adolescence and later adulthood.

Dr. Foley draws on evidence-based, skills-based approaches, including cognitive-behavioral and mindfulness-based therapies, tailoring her approach to each client's individual goals. Common areas of focus include reducing stress, anxiety, and depressed mood; building self-esteem and self-worth; and improving health, relationships, or work performance with the aim of helping clients feel more content and better equipped to manage life's stressors.

Dr. Foley earned her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Syracuse University in 2020 and completed her postdoctoral training at Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School, with a specialization in Health Psychology and Behavioral Medicine. She has been providing psychotherapy for more than nine years.

Dr. Foley offers therapy exclusively through virtual sessions and is licensed to see clients in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and New York. She typically sees clients weekly for one-hour sessions and is currently accepting new clients.

Message to clients

I am a licensed Clinical Psychologist with more than nine years of supervised and independent experience delivering cognitive-behavioral and mindfulness-based therapies. I specialize in working with people managing co-occurring mental and medical health condition - for example, breast cancer alongside major depressive disorder, or people with a substance use disorder and metabolic syndrome. My approach is flexible and grounded in skills you can actually use, built around what matters most to you. I have used to help people make real changes: increasing physical activity after an injury, reducing overeating, improving follow-through with treatment and medications, easing depressive or anxiety symptoms, reconnecting with social activities, building better self-care habits, and learning to tolerate uncertainty and other uncomfortable feelings. I love seeing people of all ages and have worked with adolescents, as well as young and older adults. I see clients virtually, across Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and New York.

Reaching out can be a hard first step, and you don’t need to have things figured out before you do. If this sounds like a good fit, we can start with a conversation about what brings you to therapy and whether we are the right match — feel free to reach out using the "Message Therapist" link.
