Professional statement

Jason Alicea, LMHC, works with high-achieving adults who have mastered success in their careers but struggle to connect with their emotions. His clients are often logical, ambitious, and driven people who compartmentalize their feelings to stay focused on goals, relationships, or responsibilities. Despite their achievements, many reach a point where something feels off, relationships lose depth, anxiety and/or depression feel constant, or fulfillment feels just out of reach. Jason helps them uncover the emotional blind spots that keep them stuck, turning feelings into valuable information that supports continued success and authentic connection.

Jason’s therapy style is grounded, collaborative, and results-oriented. He helps clients understand emotions as data, signals that guide better decision-making, leadership, and relationships. Drawing from CBT, EMDR, positive psychology, attachement theory, and solution-focused techniques, Jason provides tools that allow clients to integrate insight quickly and effectively. His goal is not to keep clients in therapy forever but to help them develop mastery over their emotional world so they can live with greater clarity, balance, and purpose.

As a trauma-informed therapist and LGBTQ+ ally, Jason brings both warmth and precision to his work. He believes therapy should feel productive and empowering, helping clients build emotional awareness without sacrificing their drive or sense of control.

Jason is the Clinical Director of Rising Tide Therapy, a group practice serving clients across New York. He offers remote sessions, providing flexible scheduling for busy professionals who want therapy that fits into their lives, not the other way around.

Message to clients

I’m a straightforward, results-focused therapist who believes change happens when you show up ready to do the work. My goal is to help you become self-sustaining—someone who understands your emotions, patterns, and needs, and can navigate them with clarity and confidence. I can’t walk this path for you, but I’ll walk it with you, helping you uncover the tools that create lasting growth long after therapy ends.

My approach combines attachment theory, positive psychology, and mindfulness to help you build a deeper connection with yourself and others. We’ll explore how your early experiences shaped the way you relate, and I’ll help you use mindfulness to stay grounded and present in those moments where you’d normally shut down or avoid. Positive psychology helps us shift focus from what’s wrong to what’s strong, turning insight into action and growth.

Therapy with me is collaborative, honest, and goal-oriented. I’ll challenge you when needed, support you when it counts, and teach you practical skills to build emotional awareness without losing your edge. Together, we’ll help you understand emotions as valuable data that enhances performance, deepens relationships, and leads to a more balanced, fulfilling life.
