Professional statement

Jeanette is a licensed professional counselor for the state of Texas and offers online therapy only. She specializes in self-esteem and confidence issues, navigating relationships, constant worry and fear, various levels of depression, and experiences in trauma. She emphasizes the importance of exploring physical changes, hyperarousal, or how distressing memories can sneak into our daily lives without notice. Sometimes thoughts and beliefs help better understand more about yourself and where they developed.

Her approach to therapy is collaborative and client-centered, focusing on helping you reach your personal goals. Jeanette allows clients to share their thoughts in an open and safe space. Methods used are: CBT which consist of working with thoughts and behaviors, incorporating DBT techniques for impulsive or distressing emotions. Mindfulness and being present is a principle practiced in the healing of stress and anxiety. She provides respect for spiritual/religious backgrounds and is open to prayer or related practices to help in your healing.

Much of Jeanette's experience comes from years working with the community of various populations, working in crisis situations, and learning about medication. After completing her masters degree in 2017, she spent 6 years working with individuals with severe mental illness followed by supervised counseling on adults, children, and seniors.

Her practice is located in Van Horn, Texas and strictly remote at this time.

Message to clients

I am currently remote mostly due to living in a rural area. I would like to reach out to all Texas residents. I provide a safe and non-judgemental space where you can reveal any struggles with addictions, feelings of insecurities, religion, politics, or having done "wrong" to others. Raised all my life in west Texas, pretty hungry for new ideas and knowledge I spent a lot of my thinking time separate from family and neighbors.

My background is a mix of modern Conservative American, liberal influences, and hispanic culture. There have been times when I did not connect well with my peers because of my objective mind which is ironic being a private artist. I see things as they are, confused by manipulation, and patient in processing what comes to me. Therefore, I don't care about your political background, although I will consider and respect your beliefs and treat your therapy as the biggest importance. I respect your religious beliefs because they are part of your heart even if you are feeling uncertain. I am here because you reached out and can step back when you say, meaning that this is a complete safe place. I am not your Knight and shining armour going to persist for your wellbeing. If you want to get to a certain destination or goal it is up to you to get there with my assistance. However I will make effort during the process by my availability when you feel tired.
