Dr. Jess Alpizar works with adults of all ages, with a special focus on young adults navigating identity, relationships, and healing from past emotional wounds. Many of her clients are high-functioning but feel stuck—repeating patterns in love, work, or family that leave them anxious, unfulfilled, or disconnected. She is especially attuned to individuals dealing with grief, life transitions, anxiety, depression, and unresolved relational pain—often rooted in childhood dynamics or complicated family systems.
Dr. Alpizar’s approach is warm, grounded, and collaborative. She draws from evidence-based therapies such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and mindfulness-based practices. She is also trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and Internal Family Systems (IFS), two powerful trauma-informed approaches that help clients process emotional wounds and reconnect with their inner strengths. Much of her work focuses on relational trauma—the kind that isn’t always obvious, but shows up in how we relate to ourselves and others. This includes chronic feelings of being unseen, overly responsible, or emotionally neglected in early relationships. Through her integrative approach, clients begin to understand and shift long-standing patterns with compassion and clarity.
She earned her doctorate and completed postdoctoral training in clinical health psychology at Denver Health. Dr. Alpizar has also trained at the Veterans Affairs (VA) system and in the University of Miami’s neuropsychology department, gaining valuable experience in trauma, brain health, and integrated care. Her clinical background spans medical settings, community mental health, and private practice. She is bilingual in English and Spanish and experienced in working with individuals from a wide range of cultural backgrounds.
Sessions are offered exclusively via telehealth. Dr. Alpizar is currently accepting new clients and offers a free 15-minute consultation to explore fit. She is paneled with Aetna and offers private-pay options, with sliding-scale availability upon request.
