Professional statement

Jonathan Anderson, LPC-S, works with adults, teens, and couples who want to better understand themselves, strengthen their relationships, and find steadier footing in their personal and professional lives. Many of his clients are successful, thoughtful, motivated students, professionals, and creatives who are used to high expectations but sometimes feel weighed down by stress, perfectionism, or self-doubt. Jonathan helps them pause, gain perspective, and translate self-awareness into real and lasting growth.

His therapy style is down-to-earth, interactive, and focused on what genuinely helps. Jonathan doesn’t follow a script; instead, he tailors each session to the individual, blending warmth with honest, solution-oriented feedback. Drawing from mindfulness practices, cognitive-behavioral techniques, and insight-based exploration, he helps clients recognize unhelpful patterns, build resilience, and approach challenges with more clarity and confidence. For couples, he incorporates Gottman Method principles to improve communication, repair trust, and nurture connection.

With nearly thirty years of experience in counseling, teaching, and program development, Jonathan brings both depth and practicality to his work. Before founding Gate Healing, PLLC, he spent years in university, community, and private-sector settings offering therapy, supervision, management consulting, and mentorship to clinicians and professional teams. These experiences continue to shape the grounded, real-world perspective he brings to therapy today. His work is trauma-informed, evidence-driven, and guided by a belief that meaningful change begins with understanding one’s own story.

Jonathan provides secure virtual sessions for clients across Texas and North Carolina. His online therapy provides flexibility for clients managing full schedules or living outside urban areas.

Message to clients

Starting therapy can feel like both a relief and a leap of faith. You may be ready for change but unsure what that will look like or how to get there. My goal is to create a space where you feel safe enough to be honest, curious, and real. Together, we’ll explore what’s been getting in your way, make sense of the patterns that keep showing up, and build the skills and insight that help you move forward with confidence.

I see therapy as a genuine conversation, not a performance or evaluation. I’ll bring honesty, compassion, and practical feedback to our work, and I’ll ask you to bring your willingness to show up and work, even when it’s uncomfortable. Real growth happens when we combine insight with action, and I’ll help you find a pace that feels challenging but supportive.

I hope that therapy helps you not only feel better, but understand yourself better so you can respond to life’s challenges with clarity and self-respect rather than pressure or self-doubt. It’s meaningful work, and I’m honored to be part of that process with the people I work with.

During our free initial 20-minute consultation, you'll be able to get a feel for my style and ask any questions.
