Professional statement

Dr. Julie Hsu is a Psychologist based in Austin, TX. She works with adults, with a focus on high-achieving women, young adults, and parents. Her clients are big-hearted, intelligent, and thoughtful —and often exhausted from years of carrying too much on their own. Together, Julie helps clients slow down, practice self-compassion, and reconnect with what truly matters to them. She supports those navigating stress, anxiety, and depression. She also provides executive functioning support for ADHD.

Julie’s approach draws from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and humanistic and somatic practices. She helps clients explore how their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are interconnected—while cultivating the flexibility and compassion to make meaningful change. Her work encourages mindfulness, emotional awareness, and deeper connection with personal values.

Julie’s style is warm and collaborative. She believes therapy should be a space where clients feel both safe and empowered—where their full identities, histories, and hopes are honored. Her practice is culturally responsive. She strives to create a space where clients feel seen, heard, and supported. As a telehealth provider, she offers the flexibility of remote sessions to make therapy accessible and sustainable. Julie works alongside clients to build clarity, resilience, and a more grounded sense of self.

She provides individual therapy for adults (ages 18+). She also provides executive functioning support for ADHD and positive parenting support. She does not provide couples, relationship, or family therapy at this time.

Message to clients

Welcome — I’m really glad you’re here. Reaching out for therapy takes courage, and this step already shows your willingness to care for yourself in a new way.

My hope is to offer you a space where you can slow down, breathe, and get curious about what’s happening inside — your thoughts, feelings, and patterns — with openness and compassion. So often, the ways we’ve learned to cope made sense at one time, but now leave us feeling stuck, disconnected, or exhausted. Together, we’ll gently untangle those patterns and explore what they’ve been trying to protect or communicate.

In our work, we’ll focus on awareness, mindfulness, and self-understanding — not through judgment or fixing, but through compassion and discovery. My belief is that when you can meet yourself with kindness, real change becomes possible.

I look forward to walking alongside you as you learn, heal, and reconnect with who you are becoming.
