Professional statement

Dr. Katherine Gimmestad is a licensed clinical psychologist with over 12 years of licensed clinical experience and extensive training in research. She has authored peer-reviewed articles in her discipline, and adheres closely to an evidence-based, scientific model in working with her patients. Dr. Gimmestad finds much reward in treating Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), and Depression and Anxiety with evidence-based approaches.

Dr. Gimmestad has received advanced training in Exposure and Response Prevention (for OCD), Cognitive Processing Therapy and Prolonged Exposure Therapy for PTSD. She has also received training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Dr. Gimmestad is also available to consult regarding autism and potential therapies.

Dr. Gimmestad's intention is to accurately identify goals, as determined by the patient, and make concrete progress towards those goals. Many times she has heard from patients that they had a former therapist that was "nice, but we didn't accomplish anything." Dr. Gimmestad aims for her patients to obtain newfound skills, strength and knowledge.

Hello! I am glad you are here. An advantage of private practice is that we can tailor treatment to the specific needs of you - some clients prefer a highly structured treatment plan, some do not. I am happy to take feedback about what a client's preferences are and what may or may not have worked thus far, incorporating that information into an evidence-based yet individualized approach.
