Professional statement

Finding a life path is an ongoing endeavor for all of us in adulthood. Initially education and career may occupy the spotlight, prompting decisions and transitions that challenge us. As we seek and find our intimate life partners and dive more deeply into our careers, we are often asked to develop a range of new competencies. Change is a common theme, and we may feel uncertain at times that we are charting a course that is right for us. Starting a family may be a part of this life chapter as well, sometimes challenging us beyond our capacities, and leading us to struggle to see a way through it all.

Later, as the children launch, there may be a new season of transition that raises unanticipated questions and concerns. Lifestyle choices and patterns of behavior that served us well for years may no longer be necessary. Along the way, our relationships may have suffered due to lack of time, attention or interest. We may find ourselves looking forward to the next chapter but again uncertain. Giving ourselves the gift of dedicated time and space to assess where we are and where we are going can help if we have the courage to face the challenges of this season in life. The personal touch of connecting with someone who has walked the path and who understands from experience can make all the difference.
