Kennedy J. Terry was born in Detroit, Michigan & moved to Casper, Wyoming in 2006. Kennedy received her Associate of Arts in Dance & Performance degree from Casper College in 2018, her Bachelor's of Science in Psychology & Master's of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling degrees from Mid-America Christian University in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Kennedy returned to Casper to begin her professional practice in private practice, elementary school, & inpatient psychiatric settings. Kennedy has experience working with children aged 5 to adults in their 80s, but Kennedy especially enjoys working with teenagers & young adults, walking with them as they navigate their rapidly changing minds, lives & the world around them. Kennedy works to create a safe, honest, encouraging environment for all clients to be able to make strides towards their best selves.
Kennedy believes in an eclectic approach to therapy, where several modalities could aid an individual in their growth. She focuses on Psychoanalytic, Cognitive Behavioral, Dialectical Behavioral & Gestalt approaches to therapy.
Adolescent mental health - Working with adolescents, teenagers, and parents on social, academic, and/or emotional challenges throughout teenage years; addressing anxiety, family conflicts, peer relationships, school stress, transition to college, social media pressures, self-esteem, hopelessness about the future, emotional disregulation
Anxiety - Coping with excessive worry, nervousness, or stress; intense discomfort in social settings (social anxiety); sudden and intense feelings of panic (panic disorder)
Stress management - Strengthening effective ways of coping with the stress of life and change; managing expectations of self and others
Trauma - Coping and healing after threatening or scary events, such as witnessing accidents or experiencing sexual, verbal, emotional, or physical abuse
Work stress - Managing overwhelming stress and expectations; increasing effective ways of restoring and maintaining emotional stability and health; addressing challenging relationships with coworkers and bosses
Abandonment issues - Developing an understanding of one’s abandonment issues, including their origins and how they impact relationships; practicing trust and growing confidence in relationships
