Professional statement

Laura Burt works with adults who feel stuck in patterns they don’t fully understand, frustrated with past therapy, or wanting more than surface-level coping. Many of her clients come in feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or caught in long-standing emotional and relational patterns, and are seeking deeper, more meaningful change. She supports individuals navigating trauma, anxiety, mood concerns, neurodivergence, relationship and attachment challenges, chronic illness, and struggles related to body image or food.

Laura’s approach is collaborative, relational, and engaged. She is not a “blank slate” therapist—clients can expect active participation, thoughtful feedback, and a shared process of making sense of patterns and experiences. She believes healing happens within relationships and works to create a space where clients feel both supported and gently challenged. Her work focuses on building insight, strengthening relationships, and developing a more grounded, secure sense of self over time.

She uses an integrative, trauma-informed approach, drawing from EMDR, parts work (IFS-informed), somatic therapy, and behavioral approaches such as ACT, DBT, and CBT. This allows her to support both deeper emotional processing and practical, day-to-day change, always tailored to the individual.

Laura has experience working across all levels of care in eating disorder treatment, which has provided her with a strong foundation in treating complex emotional and relational concerns. While she maintains expertise in eating disorders, her current work focuses more broadly on clients seeking a relationship-based, longer-term approach to therapy.

She offers virtual therapy, allowing clients to access care from the comfort of their own space. Many clients are surprised by how connected and supported they feel, even through a screen.

Message to clients

Starting therapy can feel like a big step, especially if you’ve had experiences in the past where you didn’t feel fully understood or supported. My goal is to create a space where you can show up as your authentic self—without having to perform, minimize, or figure things out on your own.

I tend to work in a more active, relational way. I’ll share my thoughts, offer feedback, and help you make connections between patterns, experiences, and what’s showing up in your life now. At the same time, I’m always paying attention to your pace and what feels manageable for you.

My hope is that over time, our work helps you feel more grounded in yourself, more clear in your relationships, and more able to move through challenges with both insight and self-compassion. If that’s the kind of support you’re looking for, I welcome you to reach out so we can see if working together feels like a good fit.
