Professional statement

Lauren Perez, PhD, BCBA works with children, adolescents, and young adults who are navigating ADHD, anxiety, feeding challenges, and related difficulties that affect daily functioning at home and school. Many of the clients she supports are bright and capable but feel overwhelmed by demands that do not align well with how their brains work. She also works closely with parents and caregivers to support consistency across environments.

Dr. Perez’s therapy approach is practical, developmentally informed, and collaborative. She focuses on helping clients better understand what feels difficult, identify patterns that contribute to stress or avoidance, and build skills that can be applied in real life. Her work draws from evidence-based approaches including cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance-based strategies, and applied behavioral principles, used flexibly based on the needs of the child or adolescent.

Her professional background includes training and clinical work in pediatric hospitals, outpatient clinics, and school settings. This experience informs an integrative perspective that considers academic demands, family systems, and medical or developmental factors when relevant. Dr. Perez brings particular expertise in the intersection of psychology and behavior analysis, which allows her to translate assessment and therapy goals into concrete, achievable steps.

Dr. Perez is the founder of WholeChild Wellness, a pediatric psychology practice located in Scottsdale, Arizona. She offers in-person services as well as telehealth sessions for clients who are appropriate for remote care. Availability includes weekday appointments, with some evening options depending on scheduling needs.

Message to clients

If you’re considering starting therapy with me, my goal is to make the process feel clear, organized, and collaborative from the beginning. I work with children, teens, and families who benefit from a flexible approach that adapts to how each child thinks, learns, and engages. Sessions are structured but responsive, and I pay close attention to what helps a child feel comfortable enough to participate meaningfully.

I bring creativity into sessions when it supports engagement, while also keeping a clear clinical framework in place. I understand that progress does not look the same for every child, and I work with families to adjust expectations, pacing, and strategies as needed. My hope is that therapy feels supportive and approachable, and that families feel understood and confident about how care is unfolding.
