Dr. Lindsay Huffhines, PhD, IMH-E® is a licensed clinical child psychologist who supports families with young children ages 0-5. She partners with caregivers seeking guidance as they navigate big feelings, tantrums, aggression, challenges with listening and cooperation, worries, and separation difficulties. She also helps families through developmental transitions, such as sleep changes, potty training, and starting childcare or school, as well as after stressful or disruptive experiences, including illness, loss, or family changes.
Dr. Huffhines uses an approach that blends developmental science with practical, everyday strategies. She helps caregivers understand the meaning behind their child’s behavior and builds their confidence in interpreting it. She offers clear, actionable techniques to ease stress for both child and caregiver, reduce challenging behaviors, and promote children’s healthy development. By strengthening these skills, caregivers are prepared to respond thoughtfully and effectively—in the present moment, and as their child moves through each developmental stage and encounters new challenges and opportunities, even after treatment ends.
At the heart of her work is the belief that all people need supportive relationships in order to thrive. She knows that when caregivers feel understood and supported, they are better able to provide that same sense of connection for their child, an idea that inspired her to found Nesting Cups Psychotherapy, LLC. Her therapeutic style is warm, grounded, and steady, with a focus on nurturing joyful, fulfilling relationships that foster lifelong well-being.
Dr. Huffhines holds graduate degrees in marriage and family therapy and clinical child psychology and completed a postdoctoral fellowship in early childhood mental health. She is an Endorsed Infant Mental Health Clinical Mentor®, reflecting advanced expertise in work with infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and their families. She is also an Assistant Professor at Brown University, where her research focuses on early life stress, trauma, resilience, and parenting.
