Empowering adults, teens and families to be healthy in mind and body is how clients describe Maya's scope of service. Maya is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker for your wellness and Community Zumba Instructor for your health. She support clients navigating depression, anxiety, trauma, stress management, self-esteem and the complex emotional labor of caregiving. Maya specializes in trauma such as sexual assault, abuse and community violence. She is also a survivor of sexual assault and understands what it means to lose connection with the body *and what it takes to reclaim it. Maya's approach centers safety, choice and meeting clients where they are, guiding them to where they want to be. She is passionate about cultural healing, incorporating mental health with affirmation statements, movement and trauma-informed education. Maya earned her master’s degree in social work at Chicago State University, working in the Social Work field for 9 years, supporting children, teenagers, transition youth (college students) in re-connecting with self after trauma.
