Professional statement

Hi, I’m Melanie (she/her).

Before becoming a therapist, I spent years as a middle school teacher. That experience taught me how powerful it is to have someone in your corner who truly listens and understands what you’re carrying. Today, I work with teens and adults navigating anxiety, grief, and big life transition... especially high-achievers who feel worn down by pressure, perfectionism, or old wounds that won’t quite let go.

My work is shaped by both training and lived experience, including the loss of my brother to addiction and my father to cancer. Those losses deeply inform how I sit with clients through pain, uncertainty, and change. I also lead workshops focused on grief, church hurt, and healing from sexual trauma, and I’m both faith-affirming and LGBTQIA+ affirming. My goal is to create a space where you don’t have to perform or explain yourself, just show up as you are.

I’m a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and an Affiliate Professor at USF’s Honors College, and like many of the driven women I work with, I know what it’s like to carry a lot and still feel like it’s never quite enough. If you’re feeling stuck, exhausted, or ready to do things differently, I’d be honored to support you as you move toward more clarity, compassion, and ease.

Message to clients

Feeling burned out or overwhelmed? You’re not alone.

Maybe you are giving your all at work, in relationships, or in daily life, but still feel drained or behind. Maybe recent stress has made things heavier, or old grief and trauma are starting to surface again. Whatever brought you here, I am really glad you are exploring support.

Therapy can be a place to slow down, feel encouraged, and make sense of what you are carrying. Together, we can create space for healing and real change so you can feel more balanced, confident, and hopeful moving forward.

Taking the first step takes courage, but you do not have to do it alone. Let’s start with a free 20 minute phone consult. It is a low pressure chance to ask questions, get to know each other, and see if it feels like a good fit.

It is time to prioritize your wellness. It is time to prioritize you.
