Professional statement

Miles O’Brien is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate located in Colleyville, TX. He is passionate about working with clients who are caring and sensitive, who find themselves struggling with their own mental health, even though they take care of others. Many of his clients are sensitive and creative people who have personal experience with trauma, ADHD, autism, bipolar, borderline, or otherwise struggle with anxiety or depression. They seek the support of an empathetic therapist who has experience working with the complexities of emotions like shame, guilt, anger, despair, confusion, and feeling stuck and alone.

In sessions with Miles, clients discuss topics such as emotional regulation, working through shame and guilt, supportive and unsupportive relationships, boundaries, the difficulty of saying no, and clients learn what they want and living how they really want to live. Through a blend of various therapy modalities, Miles provides clients with gentle guidance to help them process through what’s happening in their lives. This might include clients taking a new perspective on their lives in a curious way, as well as talking about how to process hurt and pain to get unstuck from the current patterns that hold them back.

Miles previously worked in the music industry, which gives him particular expertise when working with artists. His therapy style is caring, supportive, and curious, and he is a great listener who genuinely wants to learn more about his clients’ experiences.

Message to clients

I want to support you in the way you want to be supported. To understand what it’s like to experience life through your eyes. To validate what you have been through with care and compassion. When you are ready, I want to learn what you really want and support you over time in getting closer to living that way.

I'm a custom counselor and love feedback. I encourage you to tell me when I'm wrong or if I'm not understanding you. I think that's great. My goal is to support you how you want to be supported.

Some clients like to talk about physical health, diet, exercise, grounding, nature, spirituality, and other things outside traditional mental healthcare. It’s all welcome here. I'm continually growing a network of providers I refer to who provide excellent care, and many of them treat the root cause. I'm continually learning from top physicians and researchers to be a functional counselor who wants to support you to feel your best.
