Professional statement

Dr. Nancy Vreeland is a licensed clinical psychologist. She specializes in treating anxiety and health-related stress in adults and teens. Dr. Nancy has extensive training in evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) and Prolonged Exposure (PE). Her goal is to teach her patients the "why" behind the "what". It's not just about getting symptoms down- it's about teaching patients to understand their mind, why they've arrived at this place, and what they can do to live better. While much of her work involves building motivation with patients so that they can face their fears with confidence, she also emphasizes mindfulness (paying attention, on purpose), problem-solving, and building strengths.

Dr. Nancy sees adults and teens with generalized anxiety, OCD, phobias, panic attacks/panic disorder, social anxiety disorder, anxiety about life transitions/adjustment, somatic disorders, chronic pain, insomnia, fibromyalgia, and IBS.

Dr. Nancy received her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Baylor University. Much of her training focused on anxiety disorder research and treatment, as well as medical psychology. She training in large hospital settings, helping people overcome devastating illness, pain, insomnia, and grief. Her doctoral dissertation was on the Metacognitive Theory and it's influence on Generalized Anxiety Disorder.

Message to clients

Hi, and thank you for considering working with me! In a sea of providers, it can be unsettling to know who to trust with your struggles. You want someone who is trustworthy, confidential, and skilled at what they do. You want someone who will hold you accountable for change and present a road map for how to get there.

You're in the right place.

Working with me will feel like a partnership. You are the expert of yourself, meanwhile I am the expert in anxiety disorders and chronic illness. We have walked different paths, but I believe ours converged here for a reason.

Let's schedule a call so I can tell you about my style and how I approach the partnership of therapy. I'll give you a preview of the treatments I typically use, what the pace of therapy may look like, and how I may be able to help you. If we're not a good match, I'll share some trusted referrals who may better meet your needs.

To your growth! -Dr. Nancy Vreeland
