Long term counseling is available and empirically supported interventions are interwoven into each therapy session in a personalized way.

Message to clients

I'm really glad that you are here, because the reality is deciding whether to begin a counseling can feel quite overwhelming, scary, and takes a lot of courage-

It's very common to have fears, like "What if I share my whole life story again and he's like past therapists, just passive and not really helpful?" or "I've tried counseling before but it just helped one area and didn't really address all of me...is it really worth it?" or "I need some real skills...can he help?" or "I'm concerned about my identity and the state of the world, is he really going to understand and get me?"

Potential future clients often reach out when they've tried therapy before, yet found it wasn't the right fit, for a variety of reasons (e.g., being charged when you need to cancel for something important in life, hearing "uh-huh" without gaining insight/coping skills, getting the sense that you are being judged or the therapist doesn't get it), Dr. Nate approaches work with clients in an active way supporting a personalized coping plan that you create together.

For Dr. Nate's scope of practice, please note that he is not currently licensed in Connecticut/Massachusetts/other states. Also, as Dr. Nate is not a Trauma Specialist, he encourages those seeking trauma-focused support to reach out to an EMDR certified Zencare Trauma Specialist. Similarly, in the current scope of the practice, treatment of Substance Dependence, Severe Depression/Bipolar Conditions, and Anorexia are usually best served by a Higher Level of Care.
