Professional statement

Nishant Patel is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) who has spent over a decade working with adult individuals in private practice. Nishant's clients tend to experience and struggle navigating anxiety, depression, anger, or overwhelming stress. He works with people who feel stuck — caught in patterns of thought and behavior that make life feel heavier than it needs to be — and guides them toward the clarity, freedom, and inner peace that he believes are available to everyone, regardless of their circumstances.

Nishant's clients are not looking to just vent and talk about their problems. They are looking for practical tools to support them in living their lives with less reactivity, more authenticity, and a sense of inner freedom to take action despite circumstances. The practical tools that are the foundation of Nishant's work are based on four interconnected practices: honesty, meditative skills, The Work of Byron Katie, and biology.

Nishant’s work draws on a deep commitment to meeting each client where they are — not with a fixed protocol, but with a process designed to help them question what isn't working and discover what is. Nishant sees clients in person at his office in Roslyn Heights, New York, and offers tele-health sessions for those who prefer to meet remotely. Message to clients

If you're carrying anxiety, depression, anger, or overwhelming stress that feels bigger than you can manage alone, the work we do together is built to change that — not by talking around the problem, but by going directly to its source.

My approach is grounded in four practices: honesty, meditative skills, inquiry, and biology. Honesty means that you and I, as a team, create a setting to reveal those parts of ourselves that are hard to acknowledge and bring a non-judgmental stance to whatever emotion or thought is showing up for you no matter how long ago something might have occurred. Meditative practices are here to build self-awareness and support in being less reactive to situations that feel out of your control. The Work of Byron Katie — questioning thoughts at their root — is one of the most effective tools I know for creating lasting inner peace. And biology reminds us that sleep, nutrition, exercise, and hydration aren't optional; they're the foundation everything else rests on. Together, these four pillars create the conditions for real, durable change.

People who do this work report less anxiety and panic, fewer depressive episodes, more energy, and relationships that feel genuinely closer. They describe feeling more alive, less reactive, and more capable of acting from who they actually are rather than letting fear run their lives. Clarity, freedom, and inner peace aren't distant ideals — they're available to you, whatever your situation looks like right now.
