Professional statement

Rose Neugroschel is a clinical social worker in Asheville. She works with adults of all ages . Many of Rose’s clients come in to address anxiety, stress, disordered eating, and body image concerns. Rose is particularly passionate about serving individuals with mild eating disorders, people who are "sober curious," and highly stressed women and men. She has advanced training in the area of Generalized Anxiety Disorder, binge eating disorder and mild eating disorders.

Rose is trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing, in which thoughts, beliefs and behaviors and how you are managing emotions are examined, understand what is or isn't working, and shift them to healthier habits. In session, Rose may offer mindfulness techniques to manage emotional overwhelm and anxiety, critical thinking skills such as problem solving and questions to help us "think about our thoughts," and evidence-based information on eating disorders and anxiety. This approach supports clients in making decisions that are more aligned with their values, and to increase self trust regarding food-related decisions.

Rose's style is non-judgmental, collaborative, and supportive. When clients first start therapy, we’ll explore the current problems the client is looking to address, their history, how they use their strengths to manage problems, and their therapy goals.

Rose received her MSW from Catholic University of America. She has worked at Georgetown Transplant Institute, where she worked as a liver transplant social worker evaluating the psychosocial needs of liver transplant patients and assessing their readiness to change their relationship with alcohol. Rose has also worked in group practice and employee assistance in which she offered crisis intervention. Outside of private practice, she loves weight lifting, being outside, and being an eternal learner. Rose offers both in-person and remote therapy sessions.

Message to clients

Hello! Welcome to my page. I enjoy supporting clients in learning how to manage tough situations, get back to trusting themselves, and gaining skills in assertiveness and emotional regulation. Therapy may involve increasing awareness, learning new skills, or a combination of both. I am here to help you arrive at your own conclusions, and explore your own reasons for wanting to make a change. My specialties (mild eating disorders, mild alcohol use, anxiety, depression) are issues I have personal experience with - changing one’s relationship to food and our bodies is a life long journey. We’ll start where you are, what you think the central issue is, and we’ll work together to figure out what’s not working. I aim to introduce new ways of thinking and responding to things. I enjoy supporting clients in making progress on the goals we’ve laid out together. We live in a world of avoidance, stimulation and instant gratification, which may be the opposite of what we actually want from ourselves. I aim to make our time together slow and intentional. I aim to be warm, non-judgmental, inquisitive, and supportive. I hope to be able to support you in your wellness journey.
