Professional statement

Sara Green is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker physically living in New York with her heart on a hike somewhere in California. She supports clients with healing from trauma, connecting more with their bodies and cultivating healthy relationships. As the daughter of immigrants, Sara has focused her therapeutic training on understanding intergenerational trauma and how it affects people's bodies, ability to regulate emotions and attachment to others. She works with clients who are feeling disconnected from themselves or others while experiencing major life transitions including grieving a loved one, relocating, becoming a parent, and starting/ending relationships with people or institutions.

Sara is trained in therapeutic approaches that help people better understand what is happening in their bodies and how this is connected with their emotions and thoughts. She believes in the healing power of community, nature and pushing back against societal norms that exacerbate anxiety and depression. Within the therapeutic space, Sara creates a warm environment for clients to practice vulnerability and radical self acceptance.

Message to clients

Committing time to better understanding yourself and your reactions is an act of love - both for yourself and those in your orbit. I am in this work because I find so much meaning in being a guide in this process and feel gratitude for the level of connection with my clients.

As a therapist I am committed to supporting you in investigating connections between your history and how you react in the moment. I am deeply listening to make sure you are not using shame as a tool to hide from deep wounds that need your presence to heal. I am curious about where you are feeling that sensation in your body and when you have felt that sensation before. We can re-author the script from “What's wrong with you?” to “What happened to you? How does that affect your reactions and your relationships?” Aside from deep self-reflection, I strongly believe in untraining from toxic systems as part of the healing journey.

My therapeutic style is nurturing, humorous and grounded in pushing back against the way things "should" be. I am committed to showing up as a calming presence and bringing a fierce curiosity to better understand you as a whole and unique person. My hope for my clients is that this work will help them stem unhealthy patterns and move beyond old limits.
