I strive to provide a safe and confidential space in which my clients can explore habitual beliefs and behaviors that have been causing personal distress and/or relational problems. I attempt to help them find ways of re-directing their energy towards more effective and satisfying ways of being and interacting. The goal of therapy as I see it for people to develop an understanding of themselves, both alone and in the world, which will enable them to act reasonably and confidently in a way that honors their goals and personal values.
I utilize an integrative approach informed by my knowledge of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, DBT, and psychodynamic psychotherapy. My approach is collaborative; I am a good listener, and respect my clients' ideas and points of view.
Although I mostly see adults, I have had a good deal of experience with children and particularly enjoy working with adolescents and young adults. I work around issues including marital and/or partnership relationships, mood disorders, anxiety, and gender transitioning. But, all problems are unique to my clients; and I start with what they tell me is bothering them.
Anxiety - Coping with excessive worry, nervousness, or stress; intense discomfort in social settings (social anxiety); sudden and intense feelings of panic (panic disorder)
