Sophie Bell is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Brooklyn, NY who works with adult clients struggling with the impacts of trauma, loss, burnout, and major life transitions. As a result of these experiences, Sophie’s clients often come to therapy seeking help with anxiety, depression, issues in relationships, and disrupted sense of self. Sophie also works with couples seeking to improve communication, deepen intimacy, or restore trust after a rupture. Sophie is passionate about helping her clients get to the root of their struggles and on a path towards the health, happiness, and fulfillment we all deserve.
As an integrative trauma therapist, Sophie has received advanced training in several modalities designed to help clients heal from trauma and stress. Sophie recognizes that each client is unique, and therapy cannot be one size fits all. She therefore uses her integrative training to customize her approach based on each client’s individual needs. Approaches Sophie utilizes in her practice include EMDR, IFS, Somatic Therapy, Relational Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, DBT, Mindfulness, and Emotionally Focused Therapy for couples.
Safe relationships are necessary for healing. Therefore, Sophie’s priority as a therapist is creating a space where clients feel welcome, safe, and understood. From there, Sophie will listen and reflect to identify areas for potential change and offer the appropriate interventions for making that change possible. Along the way, Sophie will ensure that the therapy relationship is a true partnership, where her clients are able to take ownership in their healing process.
With experiences that range from a performing arts education to clinical work in the criminal justice system, Sophie’s eclectic background allows her to connect with clients from all walks of life. She welcomes clients to meet virtually or in person at her office in Brooklyn Heights.
