Stefanie Sherman is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor or Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Idaho, Florida and South Carolina. She works with adults of all ages to address people pleasing, perfectionism, difficult relationships, burnout and trauma. She is particularly passionate about working with clients struggling with relationships that may have elements of Narcissistic Abuse.
Stefanie is trained in trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy, which examines your belief systems, thinking patterns and current behaviors and compares these to problem areas in your life. Stefanie focuses on education, skill building, building self-identity all before approaching trauma (if trauma is present) to set clients up for success outside the hour long therapy sessions before going deeper. This approach is helpful for clients who are eager to explore different resources, approaches and build your own coping skills system through the scientific method.
Sessions with Stefanie are grounded in resources and science, but offer broad applications to client goals. She works to balance a warm but direct approach, exploring logic and science with feelings and intuition. She strives to build trust in a safe, comfortable and ethical way to help each client with their long term success.
Stefanie received her Master's Degree from Boise State University and began her career with a focus in addiction, while simultaneously serving the military in the Idaho Army National Guard for 7 years, lending to her blend of no nonsense, strategic sessions with her warmer clinical training. After working in the addiction field for many years, she branched out to private practice in 2018, and began switching her focus and clinical studies to toxic relationships, particularly within Narcissism. Outside of private practice, Stefanie is passionate about teaching and public speaking on her areas of study.

Narcissistic abuse - Narcissistic abuse refers to a specific pattern of emotional and psychological abuse perpetrated by individuals with pronounced narcissistic traits or Narcissistic Personality Disorder. It is characterized by cycles such as idealization, devaluation, and discard, and often includes gaslighting, blame‑shifting, emotional manipulation, control, and exploitation.
Emotional abuse - Emotional Abuse in Interpersonal Relationships refers to a pattern of non‑physical behaviors—such as verbal attacks, humiliation, intimidation, manipulation, gaslighting, and coercive control—that undermine an individual’s emotional well‑being and sense of self. Emotional abuse is recognized as a significant contributor to psychological distress, including anxiety, depression, and trauma‑related symptoms.
Perfectionism - Coping with feelings of anxiety, stress, self-criticism, and procrastination; addressing unrealistic expectations of one’s self and negatively comparing self to others
Relationship issues - Understanding one’s wants and needs in relationships; exploring patterns of interaction, addressing concerns, and strengthening satisfaction in relationships and dating
Trauma - Coping and healing after threatening or scary events, such as witnessing accidents or experiencing sexual, verbal, emotional, or physical abuse.
Burnout - Managing and recovering from stressors that lead to feelings of decreased motivation and disconnection from the self; practicing effective self-care and finding ways to relax both physically and mentally. This is very common for those with long term emotional abuse.
